I have been in school for Film and Digital Media for the past couple of years and I’ve learned more than I’ve needed. I like learning this profession because it’s something that I’ve always been curious about and I love filmmaking. Filmmaking has always been an interest to me since I was a young child, making my own homemade films. I have always been interested in camera’s as well, that’s where I got my interest into photography. I decided early one that this was going to be my profession and I needed to learn every step of it.
When I was writing Madness, I wanted it to be dark and intense. I wrote this script with one person in mind to be my Director and that was Jaron Ikner. When I first met Jaron, I honestly thought he was crazy. His ideas were out of this world and when I actually talked to him, he was actually a really smart guy. He knows what he’s doing so I knew if I gave him this script, then he would’ve done something great with it. Well, that’s exactly what he did. He worked with our actor, Mark Deboer, whose performance was impeccable. We all instantly clicked with each other and the shoot went seemingly well. We all knew what we wanted and they both did a great job of collaborating together and putting together a solid performance. Jaron and I clicked really well together as well when it came to the style of the shots. I showed him the style of shots that I wanted, and he instantly liked the style I was going for. Overall, Madness was a collaborative project. Jaron and I have been editing Madness for the past 5 months, going back and forth, fixing errors, showing other people their thoughts. We really worked hard on this film and I’m so glad to have Jaron on my side for this.
Directed by Jaron Ikner, MADNESS, reveals the sinister confession of a murderous man who seeks revenge against the man who wronged him. The short was written and shot by Aidan Daly on an Arri Amira.
